1.    India & Thailand sign extradition treaty 

i. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday arrived on a two-day visit to Thailand and signed seven MOU's in different areas as PM attaches great importance to its relation-ship with Thailand.

ii. During the visit, a slew of MoUs covering space, extradition, IT, education, and financial intelligence units to check money laundering are signed

iii. An MoU between Financial Intelligence Unit, India and Anti Money Laundering Organization, Thailand on cooperation in the exchange of intelligence related to money Laundering and terrorism financing was also signed.

iv. The MoU will facilitate cooperation in the investigation of persons suspected of money laundering and criminal activity related to money laundering and terrorism financing.

v. The MoU seeks to assemble, develop, analyse and exchange information on such issues.

vi. In total, seven pacts were signed between the two countries. They inlcuded one on the establishment of the India-Thailand exchange programme, Procès Verbal on exchange
of instrument of ratification of the treaty on transfer of sentenced persons, MoU in cooperation in the field of mapping and geospatial technology applications and one on cooperation in the field of mapping and geospatial technology applications.

1. Reserve Bank of India on 27 May 2013 imposed restrictions on banks and NBFCs for providing loans against gold coins as well as units of gold ETFs and mutual funds to curb demands for gold.

2. A short film based on the project- affected people of Tarapur Atomic Power Station has won the ‘Yellow Oscar’ award at the Uranium Film Festival at Rio-de-Janeiro, Brazil.

3. The West Bengal government announced here on Monday the appointment of the first woman graduate from the endangered Toto community in north Bengal as a social worker in the Backward Classes Welfare Department.

4. Rich tributes were paid to revolutionary leader Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on Tuesday at his birth place Bhagur in the district on his 130th birth anniversary.

आधार के लिए 3 ऑनलाइन सर्विसेज

 यूनिक आइडेंटिफिकेशन अथॉरिटी ऑफ इंडिया (यूआईडीएआई) ने शुक्रवार को आधार से जुड़ी 3 सर्विसेज पेश कीं। इससे लोगों को एक डिजिटल प्लेटफॉर्म के जरिए कभी भी, कहीं भी अपनी पहचान (आईडेंटिटी) प्रमाणित कराने में मदद मिलेगी।

ये तीन सर्विसेज हैं- ई-केवाईसी, ओटीपी (वन टाइम पिन) और वेरीफिकेशन। इसके अलावा, यूआईडीएआई ने करीब 300 स्थाई आधार एनरोलमेंट सेंटर्स खोलने का भी ऐलान किया। इस साल सितंबर तक इन सेंटर्स की तादाद को बढ़ाकर 1,000 तक करने की योजना है।

1.    Siddaramaiah sworn-in as the C.M. of Karnataka

Siddaramaiah, the leader of the Indian National Congress on 11 May 2013 was sworn in as the 22nd chief minister of the state of Karnataka. 

2.    Roberto Azevedo appointed Head of W.T.O

Roberto Azevedo from Brazil on 8 May 2013 was named as the head of the World Trade Organisation. He will take charge of his office from Pascal Lamy of France in the Geneva-based Body in September 2013. 

3.    Giorgio Napolitano re-elected as Italy's president

Giorgio Napolitano, an 87-year-old political veteran who had been planning to embark on a well-earned retirement within weeks, has become the first Italian president to be re-elected to serve a second term.

4.    Staffan de Mistura appointed as Italian Special Envoy to India

Staffan de Mistura the Deputy Foreign Minister of Italy appointed as the Special Envoy to India on Marines Issue.

1.    France has slipped into Recession !

i. Preliminary data released from the INSEE (National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies) statistics agency on 14 May 2013 revealed the fact that the French economy has entered a shallow recession after shrinking by 0.2 percent in the first quarter of the year.

ii. The economy entered into recession because of weak exports, investment and household spending. 

iii. France is already suffering number of jobless people; the number of unemployed people in France went up to all time high in March 2013.

iv. The country's economy shrank by the same amount in the last quarter of 2012. France has record unemployment and low business and consumer confidence.

v. As per the INSEE statistics, investment in France contracted by 0.9 percent in the first quarter of the year.

vi. Similarly business investment went down by 0.8 percent and exports went down bu 0.5 percent in the second quarter.

vii. The household consumption also recorded a fall of 0.1 percent; this is the first downfall in household consumption since second quarter of 2012. 

Kapil Sibal to get additional charge of Law, Joshi gets Railway Ministry

Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal will get additional charge of Law Ministry and Road and Transport Minister C P Joshi the Railway portfolio in the wake of resignations of incumbents Ashwani Kumar and Pawan Bansal respectively.

Sibal and Joshi will be in charge of these portfolios in addition to their existing ministries of Telecom and IT and Road and Transport respectively.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has written to President Pranab Mukherjee recommending the changes, a day after Bansal and Kumar resigned in the wake of allegations of bribery and interfering with the CBI probe in the Coalgate scam, official sources said.

ऑनलाइन रिचार्ज होगा आपका मेट्रो स्मार्ट कार्ड

दिल्ली मेट्रो रेल कॉर्पोरेशन अब अपने स्मार्ट यात्रियों के लिए नई सुविधा शुरू कर रही है। स्मार्ट कार्ड रखने वाले यात्री अब ऑनलाइन ट्रांजेक्शन के जरिए भी अपने कार्ड को रिचार्ज करवा सकेंगे।

इस नई सुविधा की शुरुआत बाराखंभा मेट्रो स्टेशन पर मशीन लगाकर की जा रही है, जिसे भविष्य में आप पीसी पर बैठकर भी कर सकेंगे।

डीएमआरसी के प्रबंध निदेशक मंगू सिंह आज बाराखंभा मेट्रो स्टेशन पर टिकट रीडर-कम-एड वैल्यू मशीन का उद्घाटन करेंगे। लोगों ने करीब 70 लाख मेट्रो स्मार्ट कार्ड खरीदे हुए हैं।

पाकिस्तानी कैदी सनाउल्लाह की चंडीगढ़ के अस्पताल में मौत

एक सप्ताह पहले जम्मू की कोट बलवाल जेल में हमले के बाद गंभीर रूप से जख्मी हुए पाकिस्तानी कैदी सनाउल्लाह रंजय की आज सुबह चंडीगढ़ के पीजीआईएमईआर अस्पताल में मौत हो गई। अस्पताल के एक प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि मरीज को जब यहां लाया गया था तब उसका ब्रेन काम करना बंद कर चुका था। गुरुवार सुबह मरीज के कई अंगों ने काम करना बंद कर दिया, जिससे उसकी मौत हो गई।

पाकिस्तानी उच्चायोग के प्रवक्ता मंजूर मेमन ने सनाउल्लाह पर जेल में हुए हमले की अंतरराष्ट्रीय जांच की मांग की है। उन्होंने कहा कि पाकिस्तान चाहता है कि सनाउल्लाह के शव को हमें सौंप दिया जाए ताकि पाकिस्तान में उसकी अंतिम यात्रा संपन्न हो सके। मेमन ने यह भी कहा कि हमारे नागरिक पर भारतीय जेल में साजिश के तहत हमला किया गया और इस कदर मारा गया कि मौत हो गई। भारतीय विदेश मंत्रालय ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय जांच की मांग को खारिज कर दिया है। शव पाक को सौंपे जाने पर गृहमंत्री सुशील कुमार शिंदे ने रजामंदी जताई है।

ü  IMF (International Monetary Fund) mentioned that providing subsidy as direct cash transfer using Aadhar will save 0.5% of India’s GDP.

ü  Japan’s Mount Fuji got the approval from ICOMOS as the UNESCO World Heritage site. ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) approval is the pre-condition for UNESCO world heritage site declaration. UNESCO meet on June 2013 is supposed to officially announce Mount Fuji as the world heritage site.

ü  The Union Cabinet approved the National Urban Health Mission for five years. The goal of National Health Mission is to reduce infant mortality rate, maternal mortality rate and increase universal access to reproductive health care.

सरबजीत सिंह की अस्पताल में मौत

करीब एक हफ्ते से लाहौर के जिन्ना अस्पताल में जिंदगी की जंग लड़ रहे भारतीय नागरिक सरबजीत सिंह अब इस दुनिया में नहीं रहे। उन्होंने देर रात अस्पताल में दम तोड़ दिया। जियो न्यूज चैनल ने यह खबर दी है। हालांकि आधिकारिक रूप से इस संबंध में कोई जानकारी नहीं दी गई है। 26 अप्रेल को लाहौर की कोट लखपत जेल में सरबजीत पर कातिलाना हमला हुआ था। हमले में वह गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए थे। उनके सिर में गंभीर चोट लगी थी। इस कारण वह नॉन रिवर्सिबल कोमा में चले गए थे। हमला करने वाले जेल के ही कैदी थी। आरोपी रिजवान और आमिर के खिलाफ हत्या की कोशिश का केस दर्ज किया गया था। सरबजीत सिंह को 1990 में लाहौर और फैसलाबाद में हुए बम धमाकों का दोषी करार दिया गया था।

माला सिन्हा ने ठुकराया फाल्के अकादमी अवार्ड

बीते जमाने की मशहूर अभिनेत्री माला सिन्हा ने प्रतिष्ठित दादा साहेब फाल्के अकादमी पुरस्कार देने वाली समिति के प्रति नाराजगी जताई है। 30 अप्रैल को आयोजित समारोह में उन्हें सम्मानित किया जाना था लेकिन न तो उन्होंने अवार्ड लिया और न ही इस समारोह में शिरकत की।

उन्होंने समिति के सदस्यों पर अपना अपमान करने का आरोप लगाया है। उनका कहना है कि निमंत्रण पत्र पर कहीं भी उनका नाम नहीं था जबकि फाल्के समिति के चेयरमैन खुद घर आए थे और कहा था कि बतौर वयोवृद्ध कलाकार वह यह सम्मान ग्रहण करें।
